Whether you're subscribed to PC or Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft's subscription service has so many offerings that could likely satisfy your gaming needs. As such, here is a list of the best games to try on Game Pass this year, alongside a few new additions for the month of February.

'Halo: The Master Chief Collection'

What better way to start off your Game Pass journey than with THE preeminent Xbox franchise? "Master Chief Collection" comes enhanced for the Series X and Series S consoles and is packed with all mainline "Halo" games ("Guardians" not included), as well as "Halo 3: ODST" and "Halo: Reach," according to GameRant.

The only thing you'll need to watch out for is the package's install size: a massive 131 GB, so be sure to free up some space in your console.

'Ori And The Will Of The Wisps'

All of the blood, gore, and shooting people in the face has to be tiring, right? Well, if you're looking for a break from all of the edginess that most mainstream games have, "Ori And The Will Of The Wisps" will give you that break.

The sequel to the critically acclaimed "Ori And The Blind Forest," "Will Of The Wisps" offers better customization of the main character's abilities, as well as exciting big boss battles that will serve as a reprieve from all the puzzles, writes TechRadar.

'Mass Effect: Legendary Edition'

The current-gen remaster of Bioware's space opera epic was recently added to Game Pass this January, and it continues to wow both new and old audiences alike. "Mass Effect: Legendary Edition" packages the stellar original "Mass Effect" trilogy alongside almost all DLCs and expansions.

And if you've heard some not-so-good stuff about the first game (i.e. it hasn't aged well, etc), don't fret. The first "Mass Effect" game got the biggest facelift out of the three, with its controls and graphics being significantly better than the original. The entire trilogy is also enhanced for the Series X and Series S, allowing you to play it at silky-smooth frame rates and up to 4K resolution.

'Doom Eternal'

There's just something amazing about being a one-man army, as you decimate hordes of demons by blasting them in the face or cutting them in half. That is the main premise that has held up the "Doom" games for decades, and "Eternal" is no exception.

So many shooters were released during the past few years, but few of them were really considered good. "Doom Eternal" breaks the mold with its fast-paced, frenetic gameplay where all you have is yourself, a ton of armor and bullets, and just malice aforethought against the armies of hell.

Xbox Game Pass February 2022 Additions

Microsoft makes it a point to offer new titles on Game Pass every month. So for the month of February, there are a few newcomers to the mix.

According to Dexerto, here are the games you can expect to come to the service soon:

  • 'Dreamscaper' (Consoles, February 3): A game where players get to delve deep into the subconscious of a main character haunted by various nightmares at night. By daytime, players can explore and build relationships to unlock the power of said dreams.

  • 'Besiege' (Consoles, February 10): This is a physics-based building game which tasks players to build medieval siege engines like catapults, onagers, and basically anything they can think of. Reviews of this game on Steam are on the Very Positive range, with all reviews being Overwhelmingly Positive. Maybe that makes it worth a try, then!

  • 'Edge Of Eternity' (Consoles, February 10): If you're a JRPG fan, this game will give you some "Final Fantasy" vibes with its gameplay and story that a lot of fans love, as evidenced by its mostly positive Steam reviews).

  • 'Total War: Warhammer III' (PCs, February 17): This is the last of the "Total War: Warhammer" trilogy, which offers a fantasy-inspired, strategy-based experience fans haven't seen since 2017. It's a new release getting a Day One launch on Game Pass, so it would be another potentially great game to check out if you're a PC gamer.

  • 'Shredders' (February): First revealed during the Xbox and Bethesda showcase way back in June of last year, "Shredders" is also coming via a Day One Game Pass launch. It is a snowboarding game which claims to pay homage to the "Amped" games of the OG Xbox, as well as old-school snowboarding movies. There's no official release date yet, though, so stay tuned.

Upcoming BIG Releases

Remember when Microsoft bought Bethesda last year? Yes, that's a thing now, which means that almost all of the legendary "Skyrim" and "Fallout" dev's upcoming games will be coming to Game Pass on Day One.

But perhaps none of those is bigger than "Starfield." This is Bethesda's first new IP in over two decades, and it has been confirmed as a PC and Xbox exclusive. Studio mainstay Todd Howard is basically calling the space RPG as "Skyrim in space"--if that doesn't get you excited, nothing will.

"Starfield" is set to launch on November 11th.
