Google Drive Productivity Hack: Search Filters

If you are a frequent user of Google Drive, much more if it is part of your daily workload, then you might find looking for files in the platform to be a little difficult and inefficient for the lack of wide-ranging filters.

At the end of the day, typing down a set of keywords is not enough when you are searching from hundreds if not thousands of files on the cloud storage platform of Google.

As per a news story by The Verge, the new "search chips" feature of Google Drive, which allows users to easily access a wide range of search filters, is rolling out to everyone, including Business and Basic G Suite users.

The news outlet noted that the search feature first saw the light of day way back in November 2021.

This time around, though, it would be released as a stable feature on Workspace starting Feb. 15.

It is worth noting that the "search chips" feature is gradually rolling out to all users, according to a recent report by Tom's Guide. So, you may not find this feature just yet on your Google Drive, but it should be there in a couple of days or weeks.

The Verge also said that "search chips" is not an entirely new feature in the Google ecosystem. In fact, Gmail users might have been utilizing the productivity tools for a time now since it debuted on the email service last 2020.
