Planning to buy the classic Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 from 1968? Here's what you need to know.

Before the Z/28 model appeared, there was this first-gen Camaro which saw huge success in its early years.

At that time, it was heavily powered by V8 engines which helped it achieve a considerable speed. In addition, it contains a four-speed manual transmission, a three-speed turbo hydra-matic 350, as well as the two-speed "Powerglide" automatic transmission.

Chevrolet wanted to improve this car and build a more established set of features, to begin with. At this time, the 1968 Camaro adopted the Z/28 package as part of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans-Am series.

The competition witnessed the dominant Ford Boss 302 Mustang to be the greatest car in the show. As a response. Chevrolet arrived with the Camaro Z-28 which features a four-speed transmission and 4.9-liter V8 engine.

The fight was not only inside the track. Apparently, Hotcars reported that Mustang was showing a great position in the market as well. That's something that Camaro saw as a tight competitor.

The colossal moment finally arrived with the Z/28 Chevy Camaro when the "Sunoco" team triumphed in the Trans Am Manufacturer's Championship from 1968 to 1969 in a back-to-back win.
