Bitdefender claimed that it contacted Wyze back in 2019 to tell them that its Cam v1 is flawed. But, the tech developer decided to hide it from its consumers.

It also did not recall the product or provide a needed patch for the security vulnerability. But, this doesn't mean that Wyze did not make any effort to solve the problem.

The company said that it tried to release patches to mitigate the cybersecurity flaw. However, they didn't work. Because of this, the security camera developer decided to discontinue the model in January.

It said that the Wyze Cam v1 is no longer available for purchase because of hardware limitations, which prevent the needed updates from reaching the security camera.

What Bitdefender Suggests

The Romanian security firm, which operates in the United States and Australia and other countries, said that some Wyze security camera models might still have alarming vulnerabilities, as reported by Bleeping Computer

Bitdefender added that it is important for consumers to check their devices themselves to avoid getting spied on.

To do this, the cybersecurity company said that users need to check the available firmware update releases via Wyze's official download portal.

Right now, hackers are becoming more active than before, taking advantage of any security flaw they can find in systems and gadgets.
