A month after its release, Steam Deck users raised their complaints regarding the missing features and other fixes of the next-gen console. 

Valve has immediately addressed these issues recently by adding a full virtual keyboard and other improvements. Here are the new developments that you need to check in the newest handheld.

Valve Steam Deck has received a new set of improvements including a virtual keyboard support, family sharing status, WiFi fix, and more.

According to Tom's Hardware, Valve's gaming machine now receives Windows 11 support upon enabling the ftPM on the AMD chip. This feature is perfect for Windows users who want to take advantage of the newest Microsoft OS in gaming.

Apart from that, it will also let you enjoy DirectStorage as part of latency improvement and optimization. This feature also exists in Windows 10.

Regarding the new beta update, Valve said that it's currently undergoing a trial. It issued a warning to users about the risk of installing such firmware for those who want to take part in the tests.

At the moment, the driver set of Steam Deck remains incomplete. There might be some bugs that you can encounter during the tests.

Steam Deck Client Update

In another report from The Verge, there are noticeable improvements that Valve has recently introduced in the update such as dual trackpad support and a Wi-Fi fix. To be more specific, the following improvements were added to Steam Deck.

  • Virtual dual trackpad for typing
  • Onscreen keyboard for Desktop mode
  • Family Sharing status (You can now see the game library. The lenders will also see a message if the library is used by someone.)
  • Wi-Fi improvement (Now automatically connects to the network, then reconnects without re-prompting the user to log in the password)
  • Revamped performance downloading of library images (less stutter)
  • Overlay Quick Access Menu change in the removal of "B" back button display
  • Fixed on-screen keyboard input issues upon connecting to public WiFi
  • Fixed problem of Chrome's inability to install from non-Steam library
  • New adjustments for dead zones (left and right Joysticks), haptic strength (left and right Trackpads), and other sensors

Helpful Tips For Beginner Steam Deck Users

Gizmodo wrote in a separate report that there are a dozen helpful tricks that can guide you on your first journey to Steam Deck gaming. The tech site listed the following:

  1. Buy a MicroSD card for a storage upgrade
  2. Switch off adaptive brightness
  3. Change in-game screen brightness
  4. Resist installing Windows 10
  5. Tweak your graphics settings
  6. Scan for possible software updates
  7. Refrain from buying unverified games
  8. Set up the buttons
  9. Use the shortcuts list
  10. Tap Steam + B to 'force quit'
  11. Connect a keyboard/mouse/controller
  12. Utilize the FPS limiter
