While the release of Squid Game was way back in September 2021, Netflix still wants to ride on the popularity of its global hit series.

Netflix announced that the Squid Game: The Challenge is bound to carry a total of 10 episodes once it debuts on the platform.

On top of the new reality show, BBC also notes that the Korean thriller series officially got renewed for another season, the video subscription service confirmed this week.

Netflix says Squid Game: The Challenge flaunts the "largest cast" when compared to previous reality shows.

In fact, the reality show version of Squid Game is open to 456 participants from various parts of the world.

Instead of getting murdered after failing a challenge, players are simply eliminated from the game, like how most TV game shows work.

Netflix says in its press release that it is "inspired by the original show - plus surprising new additions."

The streaming service adds that the "strategies, alliances, and character" of its players "will be put to the test while competitors are eliminated around them."
