Elon Musk and Tesla have a 4680 battery pack that it uses for the clean energy vehicles in the company, and this is the high-mileage power cell that will service the car for a long time. However, Musk is discussing its recyclability and that the battery pack is available to reprocess the component into something different from its original purpose of powering vehicles.

The tech CEO also said that 4680 batteries are like high-grade ores.

The new 4680 Battery

An online discussion from a "Physics engineer" from Twitter said that the 4680 structural batteries are highly recyclable, and it has easy large-scale recycling of materials present. It comes from a person that claims he is an engineer, and it is something massive for the clean energy vehicle's power packs installed underneath.

Batteries, in general, are recyclable, and public locations have drop-off points for dead batteries that people may leave or throw away, and these are for the repurposing of the power cells. Elon Musk joined in the conversation and said that there are no problems with recycling the 4680 batteries from Tesla, and it is ideal for the power cells.

Elon Musk: 4680 Batteries Like High-Grade Ores

Furthermore, the Tesla CEO said that the 4680 batteries are like "high-grade ores," and people should think about these power cells like the said ores. Musk said that it is better to start with the high-grade ones for recycling instead of going for the low-grade ones in this venture.

The bottom line here is that the 4680 batteries have a purpose even after they are no longer applicable for use on EVs.

Elon Musk and Tesla 4680

Tesla is one of the first to use the structural battery pack that is one of the most innovative clean energy power cells in the world now, and it first applied to the Model Y that rolled out of the Gigafactory Berlin. Since then, Musk has been focusing the company's manufacturing on the 4680 batteries for cars like the Model Y and for other creations.

One of Tesla's partners in the 4680 venture is the Japanese battery developer, Panasonic, which focuses on a production that would deliver its power packs to the company. It will begin its production by 2024, and it would deliver later than that. It might be a long time to wait for Tesla's full release for more cars with the 4680 batteries from Panasonic.

However, at some times, it results in battery failure or needing to replace one's current pack from underneath the car. When that happens, people are left with their old battery packs, and some opt to throw them out or have them traded into the maintenance personnel or company to save on the new ones.

Maybe, it is time to recycle the old 4680 battery packs lying around, into something that would need power or provide energy from the cells themselves.
