Spotify is warning Apple Watch users to refrain from updating their smartwatches on its latest watchOS version.

According to the music streaming giant, a critical bug forces the app to stop whenever someone plays a song upon updating the device to watchOS 9.

Spotify says that Apple Watch users should not update their devices to its latest version because of an annoying bug.

Earlier this week, Macrumors reported that Spotify has been urging the owners to pause the update for the watchOS 9. The announcement came after Apple introduced the latest operating system for its smartwatches.

"Apple WatchOS 9 introduced a bug that causes Spotify streaming on the Apple Watch to stop working. We urge Spotify Apple Watch users not to install the WatchOS 9 update until Apple has implemented a fix for the issue. Users who are already affected can instead download their content to their Apple Watch and listen offline or stream from their phones," the warning reads.

According to some users who complained about the issue, the app immediately stops working after a minute when they play music on Spotify. Another problem they saw is the track progress that is continuously moving, but the son has no audio.

Regardless if someone uses Spotify on Apple Watch through mobile data or Wi-Fi, the problem remains the same. Downloading the app from the smartwatch is not the problem, but updating their device to watchOS 9.

It should be noted that the bug is only limited to the smartwatch. If you want to use the Spotify app on your iPhone, you will encounter no problem. The software will normally run, so you can stream songs without any interruptions.

Could There be a Fix to this Problem?

For some time, some reports have been that someone has already fixed the Spotify crash. Although some people claim that it works on their end, the Cupertino tech firm has not yet issued an official solution to the bug.

Per Apple Insider, the iPhone maker can have the option to launch a quick-fix update for watchOS 9. That's the same thing that it did with the iOS 16.01 upon unveiling the iPhone 14 to the public.

If this does not happen soon, Apple Watch users will have to wait longer for the watchOS 9 patch, which could potentially land this fall. That's the same period for the upcoming iPadOS 16.1 next month.
