Signal Messenger, the famed encrypted messaging application from Moxie Marlinspike, receives speculation for its next feature coming for the company's smartphone app. The Stories feature is coming to Signal, and it is delivering an experience that most social media platforms have, famously known for its 24-hour expiring media.

The Stories feature is a common experience among apps nowadays, with LinkedIn previously having this feature available for users.

According to a community blog post via Signal, the app's beta testing for new features already delivers on the Stories experience for users in its testing grounds. Here, users may see the expiring media where they can also upload and view their contact's Stories for their entertainment and showcase to a more public experience.

It delivers an image, video, and text showcase that will be available for 24 hours, and it will expire on its own after the said duration. Users may also get a chance to delete this before the said duration is up, having control over the media they share online with contacts and known associates within the application.

Users may turn the Stories feature on or off, and by disabling this, users may not be able to see others' Stories and upload via the latest beta offer.

Will the Stories Also See Encryption?

According to 9to5Mac, Signal Messenger promises the same end-to-end encryption for their Stories uploads that will be showcased to users of the app. It is a nifty feature as it will have the same protection as their messages, all enclosed within its apps, protecting their data from third-party users and online lurkers that may be looking to steal information.

Signal Messenger and its Features

Signal rose to prominence back when Facebook and WhatsApp were seeing an issue with its privacy, being the alternative app for protecting their messages via the app. The company brought its app to help users get protection online, having control over their online data, with the developers focusing on avoiding data storage for its systems.

Now, the company is a massive experience for all, and it centers on many features available for its users to utilize, but at the same time, protect their data.

And while Moxie Marlinspike already left the company earlier this year, the company still aims to deliver on what it stood for when it rose to the occasion and filled in the need for an encrypted app. It remains to be one of the most reliable apps to deliver the private experience for communicating with friends or family.

Elon Musk previously backed Signal Messenger and claimed to be a safe application for communication needs, and it is now expanding to give more to its users apart from its messaging features. An alleged stories function will help to deliver more on the experience, soon debuting more to access and see within the app.
