With the Microsoft Surface event launching sometime soon, leaks about the Surface Pro 9 and a few other units have started to surface. One of the major revelations is that the company could use Intel processors for their computers.

Leaks for Different Surface Models Revealed Specs Before the Official Event

According to the story by Tom's Guide, the Microsoft Surface event is set to launch on October 12. As per last-minute leaks, there are hints that the Surface series could be packing Intel Alder Lake-U series processors.

The Surface Pro 9, a Surface Laptop 5, and a Surface Studio 3 desktop are all expected to launch and be the highlight of the Microsoft Surface event that is coming soon. While the event was supposed to reveal the specifications for the different units, new leaks show the public what they might be packing ahead of time.

15-Inch Surface Pro 9 and Other Models Could Pack the Intel Alder Lake-U Series

The leaks come from a blogger's Twitter account, Aggioronamenti Lumia, the upcoming Surface Pro 9, the 13.5-inch Surface Laptop 5, and the 15-inch variant equipped with the Intel Alder Lake-U series processors.

 

The leak means that the laptops will be less likely to be powered by AMD Ryzen APU. The Surface Laptop 4 came in the AMD and Intel varieties.

Different Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 Could Pack Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U

The leak suggests buyers might not have a choice when purchasing the new Surface series models. This means buyers of the newer Surface series models will only be able to get the computers that pack Intel chips.

The leak provides details regarding the Surface Laptop 5 and the Surface Pro 9, saying that both units will be packing identical processors, namely the Core i5-1235U and Core i7-1255U, which are both parts of Intel's very own Alder Lake-U series.

Surface Laptop Could Come in 8GB and 16GB Versions

Regarding RAM offerings, the consumer models of the Surface laptops are expected to come in 8GB and 16GB versions. The display resolutions for the laptops are expected to be the same compared to their predecessors.

The Surface Laptop 5 could be similar to the Surface 4 and reportedly come with a 2496 x 1644 resolution. The Surface Pro 9 could be the same as the Surface Pro 8 and get a 2880 x 1920 display.

Surface Laptop 5 Specs and Possible Variant Options

So far, there is still no confirmation whether the Surface Laptop 5 will include a 120Hz upgraded panel. As for the variants, the leak also provided the different choices that buyers might be able to select from when it comes to the 15-inch Surface Laptop 5.

The leak notes that all units will be packing the i7-1255U and that the options are a PLATINUM 256 GB SSD 8 GB RAM, a PLATINUM 512 GB SSD 8 GB RAM, a PLATINUM 512 GB SSD 16 GB RAM, and a BLACK 512GB SSD 16 GB RAM.
