A Yemini drone that was made only of sticks was spotted via a Tweet, according to PopSci. The post reads, "Yemeni makes aircraft from stalks of qat."

People wearing military camouflage look at drones on display in an exhibition in the 'PMC Wagner Centre', associated with the founder of the Wagner private military group (PMC) Yevgeny Prigozhin, during the official opening of the office block on the National Unity Day, in Saint Petersburg, on November 4, 2022.

The drone is equipped with the basics-motors, writes, controls, and wooden logs. What makes it even more interesting is that assembling and flying this type of drone is easy with online resources available today. In addition, the drone also highlighted the fact that the frame of a quadcopter can be assembled from any products, and the rest of its components are easy to produce or they can also be built or 3D printed if needed.

Not a First DIY Drone

Earlier this year, a video also surfaced from Ukraine's Defense Military, which showed a soldier allegedly dismantling a Russian military surveillance drone with unsophisticated features. In fact, the drone looked like something a child could do in preschool.

The drone was an Orlan-10 model that fell on Ukrainian soil, and the first thing the soldier pointed out is that the camera of the drone is a generic handheld Canon DSLR. He also showed how the cap of the drone's fuel tank only had a plastic water bottle's top and lid. Then, he showed how the drone was held together by duct tape in several areas. Overall, the video showed the simplicity of creating a drone that can even be used for battle.

There was another drone by IEEE Spectrum that was engineered with rice cakes and the makers even said that they could be eaten in case of an emergency. The purpose of the drone is to deliver food to someone who really needs it but is not in a position to access food.

The idea behind the edible drone is that they could fly it directly to them and keep them going for an extra day or two.

DIY Drones for the Future

Drones are becoming popular nowadays, but it's also interesting to see how they can be made inexpensively and easily. With the development of 3D printers, making a drone is not a problem, and the materials can be replaced as well if needed.

With the rise of DIY drones, an era of homemade drones is definitely ahead of us. In fact, it doesn't even have to be a drone. Drones can also be used to make other creations, like small delivery systems that have an impact on our lives.

A drone can be made with the simplest things, and it has been made in the past with simple materials. The Orlan-10 drone may not have competed with the best drones on the market, but it still functioned. If more people become interested in making a drone, then making them will not be difficult at all, and ultimately, access to information today makes the process easier and faster.
