There was a recent spotting of a new feature for the Windows Notepad from Microsoft, centering on adding tabs for multiple files to work on or open via the application.

It is one of the most famous applications on the Microsoft Windows operating system and the Notepad provides a place for people to write random thoughts, computer codes, basic HTML, and other complex ventures. However, it is also the least updated app in the Windows OS, with only several changes to fit the latest systems.

Windows Central reported that Microsoft has been testing out a feature on Windows 11 for an update for its Notepad.exe application. Initially, users were able to spot this on the current version of the app but are now taken down by the company for specific reasons. According to the report, the tabs feature on the Notepad is still under testing by the software company, and is not yet meant for a release or unveiling to the world.

This new feature came from a now-deleted tweet from a Microsoft employee for internal testing of the app. It also claims that it is a confidential piece of information for now.

With Microsoft already done rolling out its 2H22 update in the latter mid part of the year, this Notepad update will join the next ones for its arrival.

Windows 11 Notepad: New Tabs Coming Soon?

According to Ars Technica, Microsoft updates the app whenever they feel like it, and does not have it on schedule like other systems. This means that when the feature is ready for release, it would immediately arrive to users.

It may also mean that either it arrives before the year ends, or by 2023, with the Notepad's tab feature and improved UI coming soon for all.

Windows 11 and its OS

Microsoft gave the world Windows 11 in October 2021, after initial speculations and its official reveal in June of the same year. There were mixed reviews for Windows 11, but eventually, it stuck with people as it is the latest OS featured by Microsoft complete with all the updates and new features for all to enjoy with their PCs.

Windows 11 also features several callbacks to its old systems, with various Windows 10 features available on the device. However, one of the most iconic is the old Microsoft apps assistant, Clippy, also one to return on the modern apps of the company, particularly with the Teams background options that users may choose from its library.

With Clippy's return as a background for Teams and as an emoji, Microsoft is going back to its roots to feature more of Windows 11's current offers. Alongside this is an update to its legacy app, Notepad, whose recent tabs testing was spotted before the company took it down immediately after being seen by the public.
