After launching the NTH-100 headphones last year, Rode officially announced its first headset. NTH-100M features a similar design, but this time, it adds a detachable condenser microphone that is ideal for a wide range of scenarios, such as streaming, broadcasting, conference calls, and even podcasting.

In this video, RØDE Product Specialist Ryan takes us through the key features and specifications of the NTH-100M Professional Over-ear Headset. NTH-100M offers the same premium features, with the addition of a broadcast-grade headset microphone, making it ideal for media and broadcast, podcasting, streaming, conference calls and other business applications. The microphone is also available as a standalone accessory, the NTH-Mic, allowing existing NTH-100 users to transform their headphones into a professional headset.

Rode's NTHM-100

Rode announced the headset version of NTH-100 headphones last year that adds a broadcast-grade condenser microphone. Engadget reported that NTH-100M has 40mm dynamic drivers designed for accurate frequency response with minimal distortion that ensures outstanding acoustic performance.

Although this headset will not be getting features like noise cancellation or Bluetooth connection, NTH-100M is mainly designed for comfortability as the construction of the ear cups are contoured to the shape of the consumers' ears. Ear cups have a layer of memory foam for isolation from noise.

Aside from the cushions, ear cups also contain a layer of CoolTech gel that absorbs and dissipates heat to cool your head and ears while using the headset. This will also offer a unique ergonomic design, bi-directional movement, and an adjustable headband to fit any head perfectly.

A product specialist from Rode named Ryan stated that the headset was developed by the company from the ground up, crafting every component to ensure the best possible listening experience. "They are very natural sounding headphones with custom-matched dynamic drivers that are tuned for accurate frequency response," he added.

In terms of durability, NTHM-100M's every component is produced using premium materials that came from Rode's precision facilities in Sydney, Australia. The headset was built to last and comes with a lifetime warranty. To ensure maximum longevity, some components are modularly designed with replaceable cushions, cables, and microphones.

Detachable Condenser Mic

NTH-100M features a detachable condenser microphone. Based on a report from The Verge, consumers who already have the previously released headphones last year can purchase the mic as a standalone accessory.

The mic simply locks into the right ear cup of the headset through the bayonet connector. Ryan also stated that this mic is positioned for optical protection against plosives with any head shape with a very flat frequency response to ensure speech intelligibility.

The NTH-Mic will not work with different headsets as it was custom-designed for the NTH-100. However, consumers can connect the NTH0-100M to the RodeCaster Pro II using the included splitter cable and a 3.5mm XLR adapter.

The NTH-100M is also compatible with any video game consoles that feature a standard 3.5mm TRRS port, like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. NTH-100M will retail for $189, $50 higher than the previous headphones. Meanwhile, NTH-Mic is available for $69.
