Discord voice integration has finally arrived with the latest update on PS5. As of now, only beta testers from the US, Canada, and Japan can test this new feature.

Along with the ability to participate in group calls, Sony's most famous console is reportedly getting a 1440p Variable Refresh Rate support and more improvements for the dashboard.

Sony is bringing several improvements to PS5 including Discord voice chat and new dashboard features.

According to a report by Engadget, Sony earlier released Discord features on PS5 in January 2022. However, at that time, players could not access voice chat on the platform.

The new report says that the Japanese gaming giant has finally rolled out this support with the arrival of the newest PS5 beta update.

For you to use Discord support on PlayStation 5, Sony explains that users should have the app installed on their PC or smartphones.

In short, the voice chat integration won't be accessible by just opening your PS5. There's a need to use your computer or mobile device for the call transfer to take place.

For fans, this is what Sony needs to improve since this would help many gamers communicate easily with their friends during a gaming session.

The recent Discord voice chat support might be similar to what Microsoft released for Xbox back in November 2022. However, this is much better since players can now join on voice servers and channels without connecting their console to a PC or any handheld device.

PS5 1440p Support and Dashboard Improvements

In another report by The Verge on Thursday, Feb. 2, the PlayStation 5 is slated to get much-needed Refresh Rate support for 1440p gaming. This feature is what many players want because this would greatly benefit them in terms of smooth gameplay.

Along with 1440p support, Sony says that the share screen feature will be revamped. The PS5 dashboard will also improve, particularly in the party chats.

With this, you can view your friends currently playing a PS5 game on the console. This makes it easier to interact with them.

Other than that, Sony will introduce a feature where players can manually upload their game screenshots from the PS5. What's even better is that you can soon load your saved data on PS4 from your new games.

You have two options to transfer your saved files from your old console to PlayStation 5 via ethernet or WiFi connection.

In the next few months, all PS5 users will be able to access the Discord voice chat after the beta test that is currently ongoing right now.
