Microsoft's latest move for its Windows 11 operating system is to open up its Phone Link feature to iPhones, with the Cupertino devices already eligible to integrate its notifications and other functions on the computer. One of the most iconic features to arrive here is how Phone Link also allows users to send and receive messages via its iMessage feature.

Despite these advanced features, there are still other significant roadblocks that it encounters, and it is not what one expects to be like the Mac to iPhone or vice versa relationship.

On the last day of February, Microsoft announced that there is now a preview of the Phone Link for iPhone users that extends the phone-to-PC link to the exclusive system of Apple. For now, it remains in the beta phase and is mostly available for developers and beta testers, and users may sign-up up for access on their respective devices.

Soon, Windows 11 may have access to the iPhone's notifications and make or receive text messages and calls that may be done directly on the computer.

The Windows Insider Program allows the iPhone integration to Windows 11 PCs for interested users, with a future update regarding their eligibility to try the latest feature.

One of the unforeseen features to arrive here is that the Phone Link may also receive and send iMessages via the Windows integration, as long as it is connected to the iPhone in one network.

However, it was said that there is a current catch to this, as people could not backread the conversation from different contacts via Windows 11's Phone Link.

Additionally, it would be hard to distinguish between the green and blue bubbles sent via iMessage, as it remains a neutral color on Windows 11.

Windows and Android Phone Link

One of the most iconic things about Windows 11 is how much it worked with integrating the smartphone and its experiences on the PC, with Microsoft raising this edge against Apple. It is via the Phone Link feature found on Windows 11 PCs and comes via an app on Android, widely available to its users via the Google Play Store and online.

It contains all the nifty features available on Mac, but it expands on what the macOS and Apple bring to its users. Windows 11 also allows different notifications to pop up on the smartphone from multiple applications installed on your mobile device, a feature not available on Apple's macOS as it mostly centers on iMessage and FaceTime only.

Windows and Android's Phone Link was its edge against Apple's macOS, which remains exclusive to its devices, now also available to iPhone users. In this unforeseen feature, the iMessage also arrives on Windows 11 but has limited capabilities, unlike what Apple offers for Mac computers, but is a good place to start for standard PCs.
