Sony PlayStation is planning to offer a mental health support feature to gamers in the United States and the United Kingdom.

The renowned gaming firm announced that it is partnering with mental health institutions, such as Crisis Text Line and Scout UK to offer crisis support to its users.

Sony PlayStation's Free Mental Health Support Feature

The PlayStation maker Sony shows us that it is committed to helping the well-being of its players. It now introduced a new feature, which offers text-based mental health support free of charge.

According to the PlayStation website, the new additional feature from the gaming giant provides its gamers with crisis support if they are grappling with the menace of mental health issues.

Given that the feature is available for free, gamers with mental health problems could easily access it without spending money.

The Mental Health Feature is Available to US Gamers

Push Square reports that the PlayStation maker has partnered with Crisis Text Line to offer the free mental health feature in the US.

The PS website notes that "PlayStation is partnering with Crisis Text Line to provide free, 24/7, high-quality text-based mental health support for our players, their friends, or anyone close to them."

Furthermore, the website reminds folks experiencing mental health issues that "you are not alone and that a volunteer Crisis Counselor is available to you."

Push Square adds that Sony says that the free service seeks to "help you move from a hot moment to a cool calm."

The mental health support feature is available in two languages in the US, including English and Spanish.

To use the free service, simply text "CIRCLE to 741741 to be connected with a volunteer Crisis Counselor," according to the PlayStation website.

How About UK PlayStation Gamers?

Besides the crisis support in the US, Sony is already partnering with Scout in the UK to bring a similar service to the country.

The UK website states that "PlayStation is partnering with Shout in the UK to provide free, confidential, 24/7 text-based mental health support for our players, their friends, or anyone close to them."

The crisis support feature in the UK is only available in English. Users in the British nation may "text the word 'CIRCLE' to the number 85258 to keep in touch with a trained Shout Volunteer.

It is worth mentioning that the free mental health support of Sony PlayStation is accessible to all of its users in the supported regions. The text-based crisis service is available for free at any time of the day.
