The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is fast becoming one of the most anticipated phones of 2023, with rumors of a host of upgrades already doing the rounds.

Increased Capacity and Benefits with Stacked Battery Technology

According to the story by GSM Arena, it looks like the device could be about to become even more remarkable with a report that Samsung's SDI division, which is in charge of battery R&D, is planning to include a new technology borrowed from the EV industry to increase capacity - both in terms of energy and size.

The technique, known as stacked battery tech, arranges the cells of the battery in a unique configuration and is said to bring a 10% improvement in density. This offers several benefits, allowing a higher-capacity battery to fit into the same volume, freeing up space, and paving the way for a more compact phone.

The increased capacity also translates to improved battery life and more power, which is especially beneficial for demanding applications like gaming and taking pictures and videos. Audi's Q8 e-tron has already used this stacked battery technology to fit a 114kWh battery inside, and Chinese battery maker CATL has even produced a 140kWh model.

Increased Performance with the Galaxy S24 Ultra's GPU Boost and Camera Setup

In comparison, the Galaxy S23 Ultra's 5,000mAh battery could be increased to 5,500mAh with this new tech, and while buyers can't be sure what will be the case, it certainly looks like Samsung is preparing to stretch the envelope.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra's additional features include a new camera setup and a massive GPU boost for improved performance, so these developments show every indication of being an exciting, powerful device when released later this year, as explained further in an article by Thelec

As the launch of Samsung's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, draws ever closer, more details about its specifications emerge. The phone is rumored to have several high-tech features, including a new camera setup and an improved GPU.

Introduction of Samsung SDI's Stacked Battery Cell Technology to Smartphones

Still, a Korean publication has revealed the upcoming phone may also boast new battery technology. The Elec reports that the battery division of Samsung's SDI division is looking to introduce stacked battery cells to the smartphone industry. This technology has been used in the electric vehicles market.

Stack batteries involve grouping several battery cells on top of each other to create a higher-capacity battery with increased energy density. Audi's Q8 e-tron, for instance, used a 114kWh stack battery to fit inside a relatively small space.

Samsung is reportedly looking for a 10% improvement in energy density by implanting the stack battery technology, which could allow the company to fit the same capacity battery in a smaller space, as also noted in an article by Sam Mobile

Many of the Galaxy S24 Ultra's features have already been heavily speculated on, with rumors circulating about a huge GPU and improved camera setup. However, this new report indicates the phone is set to feature a wider range of high-tech features than initially expected.
