Electric vehicles are a different breed from ICE cars, from power sources alone and performance, but one factor that was slept on for a long time for EVs is its tires. Bridgestone is now debuting an EV-specific tire that will help in enhancing the performance and efficiency of electric vehicles, as well as provide a longer tire life that means it is more resistant to wear.

One may think about why such products exist, but electric cars are far more demanding and specific to the parts they come with, especially with a significant element in a vehicle, its tires.

Bridgestone Debuts the Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire, Specific for EVs

Bridgestone has introduced its latest innovation, the Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire, designed specifically for electric vehicles (EVs). With an impressive warranty of 50,000 miles, this tire showcases Bridgestone's commitment to developing cutting-edge technology to meet the unique needs of EV owners.

One of the standout features of the Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire is its incorporation of Bridgestone's new 'Enliten' technology, which is optimized for all-season performance. This technology not only provides excellent traction and handling in various weather conditions but also delivers longer wear life, making it a durable and reliable choice for EV owners.

The Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire also underscores Bridgestone's commitment to sustainability. The tire incorporates renewable and recycled materials, aligning with the company's environmental goals.

To further enhance its performance, the Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire employs the use of 'PeakLife' polymer. This innovative polymer enhances the tire's resistance to wear, making it particularly well-suited for the heavier curb weight often associated with EVs.

EV-Specific Tire: What's the Difference from Regular Ones?

As EVs tend to place more stress on tires due to increased load during acceleration, braking, and stopping (via Ars Technica), the enhanced durability of the Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire addresses the specific demands of EVs, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

While the Turanza EV Grand Touring Tire is specifically designed for EVs, it is also applicable for use in internal combustion engine (ICE) cars. This versatility allows drivers of both EVs and ICE vehicles to experience the benefits of this all-season tire.

Tires and its Development for Modern Cars

Tires are important, as they provide grip and help the stopping power of the vehicle, apart from their help in keeping the car rolling at all times with the optimum pressure it needs. The NASA Rover's tires from the company known as METL was recently made publicly available, offering more durable ones for bikes.

Michelin also introduced one of the most intriguing designs for the future of airless car tires, one which also presents a feature that would never be flat despite being punctured along the way.

Electric vehicles are novel at this time, and the increased adoption of these clean energy cars means that the industry needs to catch up, with Bridgestone's new development looking to supply EVs with new rubber.

Companies like Tesla, Ford, Volkswagen, Rivian, GM, and more with EVs may benefit from the new EV-specific tire for all seasons.
