Virgin Galactic is making headlines after announcing the first-ever commercial spaceflight, which is now available to the general public.

British entrepreneur Richard Branson formed Virgin Galactic, an American spaceflight company, with the goal of "connecting people across the globe to the love, wonder and awe created by space travel."

The public is eagerly anticipating the spacecraft's departure, as the flight's takeoff was also stated to be streamed on June 29th, 9:00 am MDT/11:00 am EDT.

Preparing For Takeoff

Through the use of a "mothership" aircraft, Virgin Galactic assigns two pilots to maneuver the plane off a runway after attaining the required altitude, thus deploying the VSS Unity. The discharged vessel then propels itself towards space at thrice the speed of sound before drifting back to Earth.

The people inside the craft will shortly experience zero gravity and a once-in-a-lifetime view of the Earth's arched curvature. The entirety of the flight's livestream will be available to watch and observe at 15:00 GMT on their website.

Virgin Galactic's sold roughly 800 tickets throughout the years, with its first dating back to 2005, a year after its initial founding. They sold 600 tickets at a rate of $200,000 to $250,000 between 2005 and 2014 before upping the rates to $450,000 each, selling 200 ever since then. Their first customers were mainly composed of showbiz celebrities, known actors/actresses, and prominent movie stars.

Virgin Galactic's program got severely damaged due to a failed test flight in 2014, killing an operating co-pilot and nearly the pilot as well. The disaster was caused by their spaceplane coming apart while high up in the air, leaving future passengers growing in distrust and paranoia for their safety in light of the news.

But as the years go by, so does that fear, following another announcement regarding the company's next scheduled commercial spaceflight planned for August (Galactic-02). Succeeding flights will be laid out in a monthly schedule after this first launch.

Space Travel And The Future

With 32 space missions from under its belt, Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin, an American billionaire, competes with Branson's venture in the "suborbital" space tourism market. Yet Blue Origin's rocket has been idled ever since a mishap in September 2022 during an unmanned launch. In March, the corporation stated that spaceflight would shortly resume.

Following a mission failure in the United Kingdom, Branson's Virgin Orbit said it would cease operations just before Thursday's launch.

The California-based corporation attempted to launch the first satellite from UK territory in January, hoping that the venture would serve as a significant first step for space research from the UK.

However, the LauncherOne rocket was unable to place its cargo of US and Uk espionage satellites into orbit and instead crashed into the sea.

Finally, the world of space exploration is set to see an amazing milestone. This important occasion represents a substantial advancement in the realization of commercial space flight. The upcoming launch demonstrates the expanding interest and innovations in the private space business.

The initiatives of Virgin Galactic, along with other businesses, help shape the future of space exploration and have the potential to fundamentally alter how humans view and interact with space.
