A new update on a Netflix feature was released by the company, and this is to allow users to transfer their profiles to already existing accounts, unlike before that it would only do so for newly created ones. This is still part of Netflix's massive password-sharing crackdown where it asks subscribers to get their accounts if they do not live in the same household.

Like other apps, Netflix has a massive hold on data and analytics which will help in one's viewing experience, with the profile transfer ensuring that users do not start on ground zero.

Netflix's latest blog post introduces a new update to the recently released Profile Transfer feature on an account, and before this, it is only available when creating a new one. However, in this latest announcement from the company, users now get the chance to apply their data and information to an existing account without the hassle.

Before this, users that did not use the profile transfer feature when first creating an account would have to start from scratch, meaning that their algorithm or Netflix feed will be tailored from the app's recommendations.

With this feature, users no longer have to add shows to watch on My List, as well as access their Continue Watching data to pick up where they left off from their previous shared account.

Here's How to Use the Profile Transfer Feature

To transfer an account, users only need to log in to Netflix via the web browser and go to their Account page.

Next, go to the 'Profiles and Parental Controls' option and look for 'Transfer.'

Begin the process by clicking on 'Start Profile Transfer,' and choose 'Existing Account' to proceed. Netflix will then ask users to log in to the said existing account to identify its destination for the transfer.

Netflix's Password-Sharing Crackdown

Netflix is strict, no doubt about that, and for many years in the recent past, the company has looked into cracking down on accounts that share their passwords and put an end to it. The restrictive feature first debuted in Peru to test it, but it was regarded to be an epic fail for users as there were no notifications about the account restrictions and enforced strict compliance to all.

However, there was a workaround for this, especially for friends or relatives to share an account even when not in the same location as the account owner. Netflix allowed users to add additional members to the account, and it gives them an additional profile, account, password, and all the streaming experience, with the original owner getting charged for it.

Recently, Netflix introduced Profile Transfer as a way to easily take their viewing experience with them on a new account that they created, and no longer struggle in shaping their algorithm. Now, this feature gets an upgrade where it will allow users to transfer their data on already existing accounts, for those who forgot to do so in the first place.
