Netflix has announced a historic agreement with Jio Platforms, India's biggest cellular provider, to grow its Asian user base. As a result of the deal, Netflix services will be easily included in two of Jio's pay-as-you-go plans, expanding the range of entertainment choices for the company's users.

According to the arrangement announced on Friday, Netflix would be included with Jio's prepaid plans for the first time. By leveraging on the country's rising demand for the consumption of digital material, this strategic move attempts to reach India's enormous customer base.

The two concerned Jio prepaid plans have respective prices of 1,099 rupees ($13.2) and 1,499 rupees ($18). Compared to the $18 plan, which delivers 3GB of daily data, the $13.2 plan offers consumers 2GB of 5G data daily, per TechCrunch. Both packages come with unlimited phone calls and an 84-day validity period.

High-Quality Content Made More Accessible

The partnership was welcomed with enthusiasm by Tony Zameczkowski, Vice President of APAC Partnerships at Netflix. He noted that with Netflix's growing quality content, its "new prepaid bundle partnership with Jio will give more customers access to this exciting line-up of Indian content as well as some incredible stories from around the world," per Business Today.

Netflix India has been actively choosing a varied selection of movies and TV shows that suit a range of genres and cutting-edge formats. Netflix has been included in a prepaid plan, despite previously being accessible on certain Jio Postpaid and Jio Fiber plans. The deal shows both businesses' commitment to providing their customers with top-notch services.

The CEO of Jio Platforms Limited, Kiran Thomas, stressed the importance of the alliance in "providing our consumers with top-notch services." He also noted that the two companies want to showcase their dedication by introducing Netflix bundles with our prepaid plan in boosting relationships with international partners like Netflix, "and together we are developing use cases that the rest of the world can adopt."

Netflix DVD Service Shutdown Update

In another update, after 25 years, Netflix has announced the end of its venerable DVD-by-mail service. The streaming business has made a unique offer available to the service's remaining members, letting them enjoy a "finale surprise" by getting up to 10 extra discs chosen from their DVD queue.

According to Variety, the last day for disc shipments will be September 29, when these discs will be delivered. Returns are anticipated to be accepted by the firm until October 27, 2023.

Consumer preferences drove Netflix's strategic pivot away from its DVD-by-mail business and toward its streaming service. In order to match its offers with the changing demands of its international audience, the firm has been placing a high priority on innovation and service quality.
