The Sony PS5 used to be extremely difficult to purchase upon launch with people having to buy the console from third-party vendors and scalpers for massive markups from its original price. Years later, the console is now selling at significant discounts online coming from different online retailers and now, even PlayStation Direct.

PlayStation Direct Website Listed the PS5 Disc Edition at a £75 Discount from Its Original Price

According to the story by Gaming Bible, the PS5 was spotted selling at a massive discount on its official website for the base model and not just for a bundle with games that players might not want. This comes as a rare occurrence as the console was discounted by a significant amount.

The PS5 was spotted on the PlayStation Direct website selling at a massive £75 discount from its original listing. This comes as the price of the console has dropped to just £404.99 from its original price of £479.99.

The listed discount is reportedly only available from August 25 until September 8, 2023. This means that buyers have a limited timeframe if they want to purchase the console at this significant discount.

PlayStation 5 Console Inclusions for the Disc Edition

It was also noted that this was for the PlayStation 5 Console which comes with a single DualSense controller. The other options on the PlayStation Direct website weren't offered at a discount.

To be specific, the discounted console is for the disc edition, meaning buyers would still be able to use discs of games coming from previously compatible titles or games they bought from a physical store.

Other Alternatives for an Affordable PS5 Include the Cheaper PS5 Digital Edition with a Single Controller

However, for those who want the cheapest deal possible on a PS5, the best way to do this is to purchase the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Console which was listed for just £389.99. For those that want the two DualSense controller Digital Edition of the console, the price would be £439.99.

As for the discounted deal, buyers would reportedly be getting the console, a single Dual Sense controller, its USB charging cable, and even ASTRO's PLAYROOM pre-installed in the device. It also includes an HDMI cable, an AC power cord, and even printed materials including the instruction manual.

Buyers can Still Get a £20 Discount if They Buy an Additional Controller

Gaming Bible notes that buyers who are already PlayStation Plus subscribers would get additional bonuses when they get the console at the discount. Buyers would reportedly get express delivery on the discounted console without having to pay extra as long as they add another item to their cart.

However, it's also important to note that a new DualSense wireless controller costs at least £59.99. This would allow players to embark on games with their friends in two-player mode with two controllers available, which is still a £20 discount from how much it would've cost for the disc version with two DualSense controllers.
