Facebook, the social media giant, has stirred the pot with its recent alteration to the "back button" settings, leaving users perplexed and perturbed.

This change disallows users from simply clicking the back button to exit a post; instead, they are now required to scroll back up and utilize the "Facebook back button." Unsurprisingly, this transformation has sparked a flurry of frustration among loyal Facebook users.

Facebook Back Button Issue

Back Button Not Working on Android Phones? Facebook Update Might Be Why
(Photo: Timothy Hales Bennett from Unsplash) Many Facebook users are complaining about why their back button on Android phones is not working.

After viewing some photos of your friends, you want to go back to your feed to read someone's posts. However, that will not work because you thought that your Xiaomi or Samsung Galaxy's back button was malfunctioning. Actually, that's not the case, since it only happens within the Facebook app.

According to Yahoo's report, the discussion about the recent issue commenced when a concerned user took to Reddit to gauge if others were experiencing the same issue with the back button.

In their post, they expressed their exasperation, stating, "Tried to use Facebook this morning, and if I go to, say a post or photo, if I click the back button, it does nothing! I have to click the back on the top left of the app, which I've never had to use before, and it's so annoying. It's like it did a big update!"

Unified Frustration from the Facebook Community

The Reddit post quickly garnered a flurry of responses, affirming that many others were grappling with the very same back button ordeal. It became evident that mobile device users, in particular, were affected. The sentiments ranged from bewilderment to irritation, as users grappled with this unexpected change.

One user clung to the hope that this was a mere bug, stating, "Let's just hope it's a bug and gets resolved soon."

Twitter Abuzz with Complaints

Meanwhile, Twitter became a platform for users to express their dissatisfaction with Facebook's latest update. One user lamented that was forced to close all of the apps only to re-open Facebook.

"Give us back our back button @facebook pls pls," said Facebook user Manish in X, according to Mirror.

As perplexity looms, questions arise. Some users wonder whether this is exclusive to Android or iPhone devices or if it's indeed a Facebook-specific issue.

Temporary Workaround For Back Button Problem?

While many users vented their frustrations, one user offered a temporary solution: "Just press and hold the Facebook back button for 4 seconds...and breathe, people."

In the midst of discontent, Facebook has remained mum on the matter, leaving users to seek their own solutions and coping mechanisms for the altered back button settings.

Back in May, there was another issue within Facebook, but this time, the bug was in the Messenger app. Users complained that they could not view the old links, photos, videos, or files because Facebook had removed them.
