For many years, Apple has centered on its different features and offers with Spatial Audio, and now, artists or record labels uploading this kind of music will get rewards and reportedly higher royalties. While it was not explicitly claimed by Apple, it was said that there would be perks for artists who will bring spatial audio versions of their music on the streaming platform, Apple Music.

report from Bloomberg talked about their latest scoop from Apple, and it centers on the company's plans to reward users when they upload their music in spatial audio. Bloomberg claimed that Apple will offer "added weighting" to artists, record labels, and more who will bring their sound in the enhanced audio format, and speculated that this may offer higher royalties.

It was said that Apple Music positioned itself to offer Spatial Audio as its main selling point, giving users an improved listening experience, paired with the eligible devices supporting it.

Moreover, it is known that Apple devices with Spatial Audio including the AirPods lineup (AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max), HomePods, Beats by Dr. Dre, iPhones, and the Vision Pro offer support for it.

Spatial Audio Releases to Get Rewards from Apple

It was further noted by Bloomberg that Apple does not require that users stream these songs in Spatial Audio to get the royalties or rewards, with the requirement centering on uploads only.

Apple brought Spatial Audio to the world in partnership with Dolby Atmos, first offering it to Apple Music more than two years ago, but also made its way to Apple TV+ and Apple Podcasts.

Apple's Spatial Audio Focus

Back in 2021, the massive dive Apple into debuting new kinds of listening experiences made its way to users, and this includes the Lossless format and Spatial Audio made available for users to enjoy. This new experience in music offers improvements compared to the regular stereo, paired with enhancements to the MP3 format centering on the ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec).

It was previously reported by Apple that this feature was a success for them, as more and more users were using Spatial Audio in their listening experience via Apple Music. In 2022, Apple saw more than half of its listeners use this immersive audio format, offering improvements in sound and experiences, provided that they use supported devices including Apple's AirPods, HomePods, and more.

However, Spatial Audio is something that should not be Apple's sole responsibility, as music uploaded to the platform in regular stereo format would not be converted to this immersive audio experience.

In the latest report, Apple is looking to ramp up its Spatial Audio offers via the Apple Music app by rewarding users when they upload the enhanced format, leveraging incentives with possible higher royalties soon.
