Spotify's 'ChatGPT' is Popping Up for Some Users, When is Generative AI Playlists Coming?

AI integration is already present in many apps, and this includes Spotify, but so far, its top feature which helps create playlists via generative AI is not yet available, until now. Some users claim they already saw this feature from the app, calling it "Spotify's ChatGPT," with the feature able to create a new collection of songs, based on what they requested.

It was regarded that this feature is currently under testing, with earlier reports finding it on Spotify's code, but has not yet confirmed it publicly.

A TikTok user posted a short clip and claimed that they "randomly discovered Spotify's ChatGPT," and this detailed the latest feature in the app that centers on artificial intelligence.

Here, @robdad_ showed that whenever clicking on the "+" button in the "Your Library" tab, users will be asked by the app what would they like to create. There are three choices and it includes "Playlists," "Blend," and the latest addition "AI Playlists."

The feature reads "Turn your ideas into playlists using AI." However, the feature is currently only available in English, centering on the directives to ask the AI.

After that, users will be taken into a chatbot platform where they can enter prompts or click on suggested generations by the new tool.

When is Spotify Generative AI Playlists Coming?

According to Tech Crunch's report, Spotify recently confirmed that this is indeed its latest feature on the app, centering on generative AI playlists that are now under testing. However, Spotify did not reveal the exact scope of its testing, and in which regions it is available.

Moreover, the company did not reveal when it would make this AI tool publicly available for users to access, as there is a chance that it might not see its wide rollout.

Spotify, Its Algorithm, and its AI

One of the top features of Spotify is its algorithm, and it is a feature available for all that makes the app more intuitive for users, improving personalization and use. The company expands this experience frequently, and one of the most recent releases is the Daylist, a new feature that will match a user's mood, depending on the time of day, with the app offering it for users.

While the app's algorithm has also been notorious for data and information access, the company explored other experiences that will help improve this, and one of them is AI. Previously, Spotify released a generative AI feature for content creators in the app, specifically for podcasters where the tool can help clone the voices and translate them to applicable languages.

While there are no crossovers or partnerships yet from Spotify and OpenAI in bringing ChatGPT to the platform, there is a massive shift from the Swedish music streaming company towards artificial intelligence. As previously discovered by code miners, Spotify's generative AI is now here, under testing, helping create playlists with prompts, but remains unknown when its public availability.
