The next-generation operating system for the iPhone is now a hot topic as it was said to be shaping up as the "biggest" update ever coming to the smartphone from Apple, coming soon this year. As per the usual introduction of Apple for its latest iOS, the upcoming version would be coming by June's WWDC 2024, slated for this year to bring the most of what it has to offer.

As reaffirmed by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman in his latest Power On Newsletter, the upcoming update for the iPhone's operating system, the iOS 18, would be the "biggest" update ever coming for the smartphone. This was originally claimed by Gurman back in November, and the renowned analyst's statement has not changed since he first regarded what it has to offer.
One of the main focuses of this update would be its AI features coming for the device, with Siri to get the center of attention for this development by the company.
Still, it is not the only aspect of the iOS to get the said major update, as more is expected from iOS 18 to deliver to users in the future, first introduced this WWDC 2024 coming by June. Apple's Craig Federighi regarded this as "Crystal," with "ambitious" changes set to deliver.
AI would be the main focus of this update, with massive integration of the tech to arrive for different iPhone experiences and apps available.
Siri would get a revamp with generative AI that comes from a new large language model by the company, to join alongside the Messages app to help answer questions and offer auto-correct. Apple Music is also getting an AI upgrade with auto-generated playlists, alongside work-related apps and the Xcode to bring generative AI features.

While Apple still has a massive focus on pushing for updates towards the iOS 17's current and upcoming versions, there are claims that the company has massive plans to bring soon for the next-gen version of the operating system. Analysts and speculators claim that this upcoming version would bring the most "ambitious" and "compelling" update to iPhones despite the roadblocks it faces now.
It was also said that one of the major changes will arrive to Siri, the AI-based voice assistant of the Cupertino giant, stating that it will bring "ChatGPT-like features" to the iPhone via iOS 18. However, it remains unknown if Apple is all in for generative AI development, especially with what it has to deliver, but for the next-gen Siri, it would be more of a chatbot that gets a massive boost compared to before.
While the newfound focus of Apple for iOS is not yet known to many, analysts are claiming that this will integrate more AI into the operating system for iPhones to enjoy. The wait is on for June 2024's WWDC to introduce the world to the first iteration of the iOS 18, now set to be the "biggest" update coming to the iPhones ever, to be its most ambitious yet.
