If there's one thing that science fiction has taught the world, it's that time travel is never the solution. Sure, you may be able to save someone or stop something from happening, but the consequences will always come back to haunt you.

Now, Barry Allen gets to experience that firsthand: he may be faster than time itself, but even the Flash can't outrun the effects of changing history... and the return of Captain Cold and Heat Wave probably won't help, either. Check out the teaser for next week's episode, "Rogue Time":

For a 30-second promo, there's a lot of story. It seems to start innocently enough, but things quickly go south once Barry starts messing around with time. The episode doesn't give specifics, but the return of Captain Cold and Wells' grim narration don't do much to inspire confidence.

Last week's episode was only the beginning of the time travel shenanigans. Nearly every incarnation of the Flash has dabbled in time travel at one point or another, and things usually turn out poorly. For now, it seems like Barry has control over his newfound powers — but will that actually last?

There's no way of telling quite yet, but don't expect the plot to get any less convoluted. This is time travel, after all, and time travel only ever makes things more complicated. Plus, now fans know who the Reverse-Flash really is, and that's one storyline that probably won't have a happy ending...

"Rogue Time", the latest episode of The Flash, will premiere March 24 at 8pm on the CW.
