Taylor Swift swept up a total of 14 nominations for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards, while British singer-songwriter and Swift's new BFF Sam Smith and Australian Iggy Azalea follow close behind with 13 and 11 nominations respectively.

On Tuesday morning, rapper Ludacris and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz went live on "Good Morning America" to announce the latest set of nominees for the Billboard Music Awards, which is scheduled to be held on May 17 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and aired live over ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

Ludacris will be hosting the event along with supermodel Chrissy Teigen, who will be hosting for the first time. Wentz and Fall Out Boy will also be there to play their latest song "Uma Thurman," for which the band received permission from the actress to use her name. They will be joined by rapper Wiz Khalifa.

The 25-year-old country singer now pop sensation Swift leads the pack of the music industry's who's who with a total of 14 nominations, including Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for her hugely successful album "1989," Top 100 Hot Song for her "Shake It Off," and Top Female Artist.

Coming in close behind is British Grammy Award winner Smith, best known for his single "Stay With Me," is nominated for 13 awards. Smith is contending against Swift for Top Artist and is nominated for Top New Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for "In the Lonely Hour," and Top Billboard 200 Artist, among others.

Meanwhile, taking home nearly a dozen nominations is rapper Iggy Azalea, who is in the running for Top Female Artist against Swift, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, and Meghan Trainor. Azalea is also nominated for Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Album for her "The New Classic," and Top Hot 100 Song for her songs "Fancy" featuring Charli XCX and "Black Widow" featuring Rita Ora.

Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Meghan Trainor with nine nominations, Pharrell Williams with six, Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran with five each, One Direction with four, and rumored Swift archenemy Katy Perry with three, who is also battling it out with the new pop singer for the Top Artist award.

The Billboard Music Award nominees and winners are chosen based on interactions with listeners, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, tours, and social media. Billboard, with the help of Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound tracks all interactions.
