A new report backs up previous claims that Google will partner with Huawei to build its next-generation Nexus smartphone to replace the Motorola Nexus 6. The report provides details on some of the phablet's key specs.

Google's Nexus lineup of smartphones and tablets have been a way for the company to sell its own hardware, while also spreading the manufacturing love around to Android licensees. The devices typically serve as a launch vehicle for Google's latest version of Android, and the high-end specs are hand-picked by the company to showcase many of the new features built into the OS. Google has already partnered with HTC, Samsung, LG and Motorola to build its Nexus smartphones and tablets, and it looks like Google is going to add Huawei to that group with its next-generation Nexus smartphone.

A new report claims Google is planning to partner with Huawei on its upcoming Nexus smartphone, which is expected to launch in the second half of the year. The phablet will reportedly include a 5.7-inch 2560 by 1440 quad-HD OLED display built by Samsung. The handset is said to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which is a step up from the Nexus 6's quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

The Huawei Nexus phablet will likely ship with Google's next major version of Android, Android M, which the company has already confirmed will be shown off at Google I/O on May 27. There have also been reports that the company will unveil a new wearable at the conference as well. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new details as they become available.
