A judge has ruled that Bobby Brown and Pat Houston will be sharing the responsibility of looking after Bobbi Kristina Brown as she recovers from a medical emergency last January.
Bobby had earlier filed a petition seeking guardianship of his daughter alongside being conservator over her financial affairs but the court only granted him the latter. Instead, Bedelia Hargrove has been tasked with controlling legal and financial matters for Bobbi Kristina.
"Both parties are delighted with the Court's decision and are working harmoniously to ensure Krissi receives the best possible medical care. We are appreciative of the manner in which Judge Jeryl Debra Rosh handled this matter," said Bobby and Pat in a joint statement.
But while Hargrove will be handling financial matters for Bobbi Kristina, Pat remains the executor of the multi-million-dollar trust that Whitney Houston left to her daughter. Bobbi Kristina is yet to receive bulk of her inheritance because of age triggers in place and other factors.
She was scheduled to get 10 percent of her mother's estate when she turned 21 last year but the payout was modified. Bobbi Kristina had been struggling to bounce back after Whitney Houston died in 2012 and relatives were worried that receiving a large sum of money would make her the focus of hangers-on.
If Bobbi Kristina dies before she reaches 30 years old, the age set in Whitne's will in which her daughter is to receive her full inheritance, the remainder of the trust will go to Whitney's mother, Cissy Houston, and her brothers.
Only child to Whitney, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in her home last January 31. Her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, was in the home as well at the time but it was a friend that discovered her and subsequently called 911. She was kept in a medically induced coma at the Emory University Hospital after the incident but has been moved to a rehabilitation center by her family for continued monitoring.
Cissy said that doctors determined Bobby Kristina sustained "global and irreversible brain damage" due to the incident. She's breathing on her own but remains unresponsive and it saddens Cissy to think that her granddaughter would live the rest of her life in such a condition.
Bobby Kristina's incident is eerily similar to the circumstances of her mother's death. Whitney drowned in a bathtub in a hotel in Beverly Hills. The singer was 48 years old and drug use and heart disease were said to have contributed to her death.
