Fallout 4 was announced no more than a few days ago, but a group of fans are claiming to have discovered the location for Vault 111 within the game.

Unlike other vaults in the Fallout series, Vault 111 features an entrance that is unlike a typical pneumatic hull. At the same time, the hatch also opens to give way to an interior elevator. Fallout 4 is not set to premiere until Bethesda's showcase during E3 2015 in California, so not a lot is known yet about Vault 111 and other locations in the game.

A group of nine Fallout fans showed in a series of images posted on Imgur how they picked apart the three-minute trailer for Fallout 4 to zero in on the locations of fictitious events and landmarks within the game. To do so, they used the relative position of a certain spot to other more recognizable landmarks in the real world, like the Skywalk Observatory and the Boston State House. In screen shots of the trailer, the two landmarks were shown to be about less than half a mile apart. Using that distance to scale, the group created a rough estimate of a Fallout 4 map.

A strangely shaped tower dubbed the "battery tower" appears many times in the trailer, so it was considered a landmark common to everyone. The battery tower's location was then used to find the location of "The Garage," which was then used (alongside all the other locations identified thus far) to find the location for Vault 111. Closest estimates to real-world settings put it in Whitney Hill Park.

With Vault 111 identified in Whitney Hill Park, the group goes on to locate where a nuke detonates. Using (again) elements within the trailer, they deduced that the explosion occurred southeast of Vault 111. Guided by the range of the shockwave produced by the explosion, the group mapped it out to a distance of about a mile and a half away, right smack in Brighton.

Fallout 4 is being developed for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Directed by Todd Howard, the game is the follow-up to Fallout 3, the "Game of the Year" for 2008. Fallout 4 is the first title to be released by Bethesda Game Studios after their global hit The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which came out in 2011.

"We've never been more excited about a game, and we can't wait to share it," said Howard.
