We've seen fans recreate old-school Grand Theft Auto titles in the past. That was impressive. But this latest video from CorridorDigital takes live-action Grand Theft Auto to a completely new level.

You would be forgiven for believing this to be actual gameplay from some yet-to-be-announced, photo-realistic version of Rockstar's hit game series. From the camera angles to the way the main character moves around on screen, CorridorDigital has painstakingly recreated GTA in real-world Los Angeles.

It's all the little details that really sell it. Cash flies out of innocent pedestrians after being killed, just like in the game. The cheesy NPC dialogue that players constantly overhear as they drive around town. The names of the various locations appearing on the bottom right corner of the screen. The sound effects. The distance between the camera and the main character. And even the combat scene at the end feels take straight from the game, as the camera zooms in over the main characters shoulder as he fires his weapon.

Who knows? Maybe in another 10 years Grand Theft Auto VII will actually look like this, near indistinguishable from the real world. After you watch the video be sure to learn more about what went on behind-the-scenes by clicking here.

The video comes just in time for the latest event in Grand Theft Auto Online. Rockstar is adding new weapons, vehicles and clothing items, as well as bonus cash and experience points for the game's "Ill-Gotten Gains" update. You can read more about the update here.
