South Korean tech giant Samsung has officially released the latest models of its Galaxy J series, the Galaxy J5 (SM-J500) and Galaxy J7 (SM-J700), in China. The Galaxy J5 is priced at 1,398 CNY ($225) and the Galaxy J7 at 1,798 CNY ($290). Both are aimed toward the middle-class market.

The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 are the first smartphones of Samsung featuring front-facing LED flash along with their five-megapixel wide-angle front snappers for better illuminated selfies.

The similar features offered by both smartphones include the 13-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with f/1.9 large aperture, dual-SIM capabilities, LTE-connectivity, Bluetooth v4.1,16 GB internal storage, support for microSD card up to 64 GB, 1.5 GB of RAM and a display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels.

Both the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 will boot the latest Android Lollipop 5.1 and TouchWiz UI out of the box with three available color options, gold, black and white. The plastic rear panel can be easily removed to access the SIM card slots, SD card slot and battery. Samsung claims both phones are slim and lightweight as well as comfortable to grip.

The Galaxy J7 is equipped with a more powerful octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with four ARM Cortex-A53 CPUs clocked at 1.0 GHz as well as four ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs clocked at 1.4 GHz. It sports a larger 5.5-inch touchscreen with a bigger battery of 3,000 mAh.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy J5 features a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores clocked each at 1.2 GHz, as well as a five-inch display and a 2,600 mAh battery.

The Galaxy J7 measures 152.2 x 79.1 x 7.9 mm. The Galaxy J5, on the other hand, has a dimension of 142 x 73 x 8.5 mm.

Samsung has pre-installed a Beautification app to edit the face and skin of those who take pictures on their phone. The phones also have a system management tool for better battery and memory monitoring with clean-up functions. Additiionally, power-saving mode reduces overall power consumption by closing unnecessary background apps, making the phone more efficient.

The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 pictures were leaked last May after being spotted at TENAA, a Chinese certification authority, and speculations spread that carrier China Mobile will launch both phones soon.

Samsung has not made any official announcements about when the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 will be available in international markets, but Samsung may even release other smartphones with front-facing LED flash this year.
