Last month, actor Ron Perlman took to Twitter and demanded a sequel to the two Hellboy films that he previously starred in.

Asking fans to tweet about Hellboy III like crazy caused a social media stir, so much so that the actor eventually apologized to studio heads for all the frenzy.

However, that apology was only to those studio heads, because this week at San Diego Comic-Con, Perlman is still vocal about seeing the Hellboy trilogy come to completion.

"If there's a real honesty to fan-culture relationships, we owe the world the finale of Hellboy," reported Deadline from a panel for Amazon series Hand of God. "We set up the whole film. It's a deal we made (with fans). I don't want to do Hellboy IV or V. I want to finish the f*cking trilogy!"

Hellboy fans agree with Perlman, but so far, all that the actor reported on progress is that he knows there's been talk with Hellboy director Guillermo del Toro, but nothing has come of that.

"Guillermo (del Toro) definitely knows almost scene for scene what would happen in the third installment," said Perlman to ComicBookResources.com at Comic-Con. "He designed the saga to be a trilogy, and to have this conclusion, that would address the destiny part of Hellboy the nature versus nurture conversation of Hellboy."

Perlman referred to Hellboy becoming the beast of the apocalypse in the third movie so that he can defeat the final foe in the trilogy to defend humanity.

Although Perlman expressed his dislike for the makeup job he endured while portraying Hellboy, he believes it's something he has to do to finish the trilogy.

The Hellboy comics are even more popular than ever, with Dark Horse recently announcing a relaunch of Hellboy and the BPRD: 1953, as well as a Hellboy Winter Special comic featuring iZombie co-creator Chris Roberson.

Hellboy even recently had a dinosaur named after him and got his own beer. A new Hellboy movie could end up being a "strike while the iron is hot" during this resurgence in the title, but as to whether it will ever happen is anyone's guess.
