Classic Microsoft Windows (particularly Word) users know him well. Clippy, the ever faithful, ever annoying Office assistant is back to offer his help, whether you like it or not!

A hilarious video on YouTube shows a new side of Clippy. From being everybody's go-to guy to being stuck in an obselete world of Netscape Navigator and Windows, the old boy is now about to kill himself... Until he discovers Siri, err, we mean SHANiA. Then all hell breaks lose.

Although there were other characters in the Microsoft Office lineup to choose from, Clippy (or Clippit as he was known in the English Windows Version) was the most hated, possibly because he was the default character who always materialized on screen especially when you booted up Windows and Microsoft Office for the first time.

The music video was made for the UK band Delta Heavy, and the song "Ghost" is quite a catchy tune as well.

The "clip" first shows Clippy helping out a Windows user back in 1995 then jumps to the present day, 20 years later where Clippy is desolate, sad and alone in the virtual wasteland of the Maze screensaver, hanging on a noose made with a Loop Tool.

It is then that he first discovers the blue bird of Twitter and sees that there is another digital assistant on the block: SHANiA. Clippy wants to see for himself who exactly it is that has taken over his role as desktop helper.

Clippy plunges head first into the virtual mess that is the Internet where he can hardly understand the chaos that surrounds him, as he is expelled into the trash bin. You can't help but feel sorry for the little guy. After all, during those times he annoyed us with his not-so-helpful hints, he was just trying to do his job, right?

Out in the virtual world, emojis, thumbs ups and likes keep on feeding an enormous apple in a not-so-subtle hint at who Clippy must face next. Hitching a ride on a piece of happy turn emoji, Clippy goes in to face his destiny.

Clippy and SHANiA face off for the first time, and the old Windows hero is not too pleased with the new girl on the block.

What follows is an epic battle of the digital assistants, one that could shift the balance of power of the virtual world forever. OK, so maybe not, but it is quite amusing to watch nonetheless.

Watch Clippy take over the world in the music video "Ghost" by Delta Heavy.
