Star Wars always has the coolest toys, and the latest tie-in from the smart toy makers at Sphero looks to be right up there with the best of them. In fact, the bar has effectively been raised.

The BB-8 droid that captured our collective hearts is now also the latest member of the Sphero family, effectively bringing its ball-rolling charm into the real world and, no doubt, nerd bedrooms across the world. The 'bot has a 30-meter Bluetooth range and a battery that promises about an hour per charge.

Judging from Sphero's teaser ad, the spherical device looks like a winner – hopefully we'll find out more in the near future and maybe even see the little guy in action around the halls of IFA this week.
