Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had an eventful Labor Day weekend, saving a puppy's life and learning the hard way that not all puppies can swim.

The Rock is not a legend for nothing — and now he's also a superhero for the newest members of his family: his dogs. The star decided to expand his family and adopted two French bulldog puppies, Hobbs and Brutus.

Puppies are fun, adorable, goofy and incredibly cute, but oftentimes they're also a challenge. Take your eyes off them in a crucial moment and it can turn into a tragedy — but The Rock seems fully prepared to take good care of his pups.

In a detailed post on Instagram, The Rock shares his latest adventure as a puppy rescuer, saving one of his new puppies from drowning. He just got Hobbs and Brutus and as soon as he brought them home, he let them out in the yard to let them "handle their business and potty like big boys."

Restless as puppies are, the French bulldog duo sprinted straight into the star's luxurious pool, taking a life-threatening dive. While many puppies swim instinctively, not all of them do. As soon as the pups dove into the pool, The Rock noticed that one of them started to swim, but the other was sinking at the bottom.

"HOBBS immediately starts doggy paddling while BRUTUS (like a brick) sink heads first to the bottom of the pool," The Rock recounts in the post.

Moments like these are no time to hesitate and, luckily for Brutus, The Rock didn't. The star immediately jumped into the pool and pulled Brutus out in the nick of time, saving the puppy from drowning.

"I take off into a full sprint, fully clothed, dive in the pool, swim to the bottom, rescue my brick, I mean BRUTUS and bring him back to the edge of the pool."

According to The Rock, Brutus was a bit shaken up at first, but after throwing up the water he'd swallowed, he ran off to play with Hobbs like nothing ever happened.

The incident left Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson without a functioning phone — but who has time to take their phone out of their pocket before jumping into a pool to save a life?
