Rumors indicating Square Enix has been developing Kingdom Hearts 2.9 for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 for at least 10 months already have spread like wildfire.

A Richard W. VanDeventer, allegedly a previous game designer from Osaka, writes on his LinkedIn profile he was part of the development of Kingdom Hearts 2.9 for a period of 10 months. The LinkedIn profile indicates VanDeventer held the following responsibilities throughout his employment as a Kingdom Hearts 2.9 designer: "game idea planning and documentation;" "game check and balance;" "boss planning;" and "attraction flow planning and documentation."

Additionally, the profile did show the involvement of the game designer in the creation of the Kingdom Hearts III, claiming he held meetings with Pixar as well as Disney.

The profile was also said to be hinting at a possible Gummi Ship system as well as multiplayer components for the Kingdom Hearts III.

Interestingly, according to a report, Square Enix has recently unveiled a teaser video confirming it will organize events for this year's Tokyo Game Show. One event in the teaser video is dubbed "Secret." Reports say it is possible that the event it labeled "Secret" in the video is possibly related to the rumored release of the Kingdom Hearts 2.9.

There was also some buzz pointing to a leak from E3 2015, in which Kingdom Hearts 2.9 was purportedly seen on the schedule screen of Square Enix on the show floor. According to reports, it was then silently removed from the screen.

Rumors of the development of Kingdom Hearts 2.9 are plentiful. Some claim the game could be a re-release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX as well as Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. However, other reports have surfaced saying game director Tetsuya Nomura allegedly said in an E3 2015 interview that the company has no plan for this.

In December last year, Tech Times reported the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix: Collector's Edition. The edition, according to the report, is the icing on the cake. The bundle includes remakes of the first two Kingdom Hearts games, a collectible pin, an artbook, as well as a plushie of one of the game's enemies.
