Steve Bartman will forever be remembered as one of the greatest scapegoats in sports history.

With the Chicago Cubs clinging to a 3-2 lead in the National League Championship Series in October 2003, several fans tried to catch a foul ball hit by Florida Marlins second baseman Luis Castillo in Game 6, but it was Bartman who reached for it and interfered with a potential catch by Cubs outfielder Moises Alou.

The Cubs wound up allowing eight runs in that same inning, before eventually losing to the Marlins in seven games. What ensued after 'The Steve Bartman' incident was brutal threats toward Bartman to the point where the die-hard Cubs' fan was even held under police protection for some time.

Well, with the 12th anniversary of that incident approaching and the 2015 Cubs having clinched a playoff berth, one Cubs' fan has launched a GoFundMe campaign to send Bartman to the Wild-Card game.

Keque Escobedo, who started the campaign, wrote the following on the GoFundMe page:

"Lifelong Cubs fan wants to make amends for 2003, lets make it happen. First we need to find him to get him to the big game. If anyone knows where he is at, tell him we are looking for him. The money would pay for his expenses including his ticket, hotel room, flights and a little spending money. If he cannot be found by time of the big game all the proceeds raised will be donated to the Alzheimer's Association."

The best part might be a donation of $5 made in Alou's name. Bartman has kept a low profile since the notorious incident, so it remains to be seen if he'll be with this idea.
