Described as a 31-year-old wunderkind that transformed LexCorp into a Fortune 500 tech darling, Alexander Joseph Luthor Jr. talked to Fortune Magazine about his father, the company and the kind of future he sees for society.

When Alexander Luthor Sr. unexpectedly passed away in 2000, the younger Luthor was just as unexpectedly thrust into the business to take over. His dad had managed to carve out the Luthor empire even when he arrived in the country with nothing through plain ferocity and grit, with his enemies having no trouble adding "viciousness" to the mix.

But though impressive this may be, LexCorp's founder can't hold a candle to the accomplishments that the younger Luthor had once he stepped into the role of company head. According to the profile, not only was he the youngest to be named Businessperson of the Year by Fortune, but Luthor also made it to the magazine's World's 50 Greatest Leaders list.

With him at the helm, he steered LexCorp from the oil and heavy machinery industry into tech, quickly building a presence for the company to become the second biggest in technology next to Wayne Enterprises.

To call Luthor a genius is an understatement. He, however, attributes part of his success to venturing where Bruce Wayne doesn't want to tread: military contracts.

"It's a necessity," Luthor said, adding that people have to be ready to defend themselves because, statistically speaking, it is almost certain that a crisis will come.

"No civilization was ever conquered by having a strong military."

This stand may make it easy to label Luthor as a warmonger but he laughs it off, asking how many warmongers own foosball tables in their conference rooms.

When pressed, he revealed that LexCorp is actually one of the most charitable corporations in the United States, just behind Wayne Enterprises and Kord Industries, but downplays the company's generosity. To Luthor, handouts don't change the world. The real gift that LexCorp has to offer is in the products it is developing.

He doesn't elaborate on what these products are exactly but said that they are at the cusp of revealing world-changing technology.
