There's nothing like going to a store and trying on a new watch, but Samsung is attempting to replicate the experience virtually, anyway.

No stranger to apps that let users experience and learn about its products, Samsung is introducing its Gear S2 Experience app, which allows users to virtually test out the Gear S2 smartwatch's features and even try it on.

The Gear S2 Experience app concentrates on five areas, enabling customers to get a better feel for the watch: Aesthetics and Elegant Design, Intuitive Experience, Healthier Lifestyle, Convenience and More, and Try On.

The latter — and perhaps most unique feature of the app — has users selecting a watch style (dark gray, silver or Gear S2 classic) followed by one of 16 faces, before using your smartphone camera to take a picture of your customized Gear S2 on your arm. That photo can then be shared via social media. Once again, it can't replace the feeling of an actual watch on your arm, but pretty cool, nonetheless.

Going through the app will also allow you to virtually test out the watch's rotating bezel UX, which controls many of the device's functions, along with learning about notifications and other convenient features such as Samsung Pay.

Delving into the Healthier Lifestyle section will also give you a better understanding of how the Gear S2's Auto Tracking detects your movements, exercise and heart rate, along with access to its Healthy Clock faces.

Remember, Samsung had great success with its Experience apps for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxt S6 smartphones, with each app being downloaded over one million times, allowing users to simulate their functions. It will be interesting to see how the Experience app for the Gear S2 performs.
