Magnesite is capable of removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to help fight climate change, but it is very slow to form naturally. Scientists, fortunately, have figured out a way to make the mineral in the lab cheaper and faster.

The $500 billion geoengineering project to save the Arctic is seen to restore the ice level of the polar region to where it was two decades ago. Beyond the massive cost, the project is feared to have adverse effects on the food chain.

Temperatures on land and at sea made 2014 the hottest year since weather record-keeping began, a report says. Atmospheric greenhouse gases also reached record levels, researchers say.

Longer flight times caused by changes to the jet stream could keep airliners aloft longer, resulting in more exhaust emissions of CO2 per flight, researchers suggest. Air travel and climate could could get locked in a 'feedback' loop, they say.

Scientists have recorded that monthly global average CO2 concentrations has exceeded 400 ppm in March 2015. World leaders are set to meet in UN climate summit to discuss this very disturbing milestone.

First field study confirms what computer models and lab experiments have said; CO2 is warming the Earth's surface in a greenhouse effect. Scientists directly measure the effect at sites in Alaska and Oklahoma.

Scientists suggest that Venus may have once had oceans of carbon dioxide (CO2). About 96.5 percent of the atmosphere on Venus is made of CO2.

Increased farming gives us food but is also responsible for the increase in CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Food production is estimated to double on the Earth in the next 50 years.

As humans push agriculture to ever-high levels of productivity, crops become an ever-bigger contributor so seasonal changes in atmospheric CO2, researchers say. Seasonal swings are up 50 percent in the last 50 years, they say.

Supercomputer used to create highest-resolution simulation of greenhouse gas movements in the Earth's atmosphere. Computer model can be used to predict future climate, researchers say.

Atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide can now be monitored online, in a simple display that also shows data over the last 250 years.

China is the biggest producer of greenhouse gas emissions. China accounted for 28 percent of the global total CO2 emissions in 2013.

Carbon dioxide could be scrubbed from factories and vehicles using a new plastic sponge. This invention could trigger a transition to a hydrogen economy.

Scientists model the formation of the Antarctic ice sheet and argue that the textbook theory of climate change caused by continental rearrangement did not cause the glaciation 34-million-years ago, but rather a steep reduction in CO2 levels caused climate patterns to shift.

Increased CO2 levels affect vital nutrient levels in crops. Zinc, Iron and protein levels in soybeans, wheat, rice and peas reduce when there is elevated CO2.

Deserts may play a large role in alleviating the effects of global warming. Researchers have found that arid areas can absorb increasingly large amounts of carbon.

Ice cover in the Arctic reached its fifth-lowest level since 1978; in the south, ice in the Antarctic receded to the fourth-greatest extent since measurements started 36 years ago. What does this say about global temperatures?
