"Reels" lets users record videos of up to 15 seconds and provides tools for editing, audio and effects, according to the Facebook-owned company.

As per the report by 9to5Mac, the new features are now available in the TikTok-like section of the Instagram app called Reels.

It comes as Instagram is looking to tighten the competition with TikTok. The latter is now the most-watched social media platform, which even trampled another giant platform owned by Google, the video-sharing website, YouTube.

As such, Instagram is adding more TikTok-inspired features in hopes to capitalize on the popularity of the growing Chinese-based social media platform.

Instagram Reels Text to Speech: How to Use

To be precise, according to Social Media Today, Instagram now allows its users to select an option to include a "Text to Speech" audio to their Reels clips.

The said TikTok-inspired feature lets users include an artificial voice to read the text that they have typed and overlayed over on their Reels clip.

For now, Instagram is only giving its users two voice options to use for the "Text to Speech" feature on Reels.

As per the post of the social media giant owned by Meta, which is formerly Facebook, the feature could be found along with the text tool of the Reels camera.

Instagram further noted that the new feature could "add fun and humor to your Reels."

What's more, it also helps users "get creative" without needing to use their real voice in their clips, says the social media platform.

It is worth noting that TikTok has been offering the exact same "Text to Speech" feature to its users since 2020. Thus, numerous videos on TikTok sport a monotone robotic voice as a narrator, which have graced tons of trending clips.

Instagram Reels Voice Effects: How to Use

Meanwhile, the other new feature that Instagram included to Reels allows users to alter their voices in humorous ways.

The social media platform explained that the additional Voice Effects feature is "a tool that allows you to modify the audio and/or voiceover in your Reel."

The new feature is also found on the Reel camera section of the app, which could be added to the video.

The Voice Effects options include robot, vocalist, and helium voice-altering options, which users could use to mask their real voice in their Reel clips.
