The high-flying space battles and intense in-atmosphere dogfights of Star Wars have always captured the imaginations of fans. There's just something about seeing X-Wings and Tie Fighters duke it out that is endlessly captivating.

The folks at CorridorDigital seem to agree, and in partnership with Rotor Riot, have created one of the coolest Star Wars tribute videos we've seen in a long time. Using Go-Pro camera-equipped racing drones piloted by Rotor Riot, Star Wars action figures and the magic of digital special effects, CorridorDigital has crafted an epic Star Wars dogfight that you have to see to believe.

What you'll see are X-Wings and Tie Fighters locked in battle in Earth's atmosphere. The team used footage captured from the Go-Pro-attached drones and then combined it with 3D-printed X-Wing and Tie Fighter cockpits to create the illusion that we are watching two of sci-fi's most iconic spacecraft wage a war in the skies. Digital effects do the rest of the work, as lasers and explosions are added to make the breathtaking action sequences even more believable.

X-Wings and Tie Fighters dip and dive under bridges, between trees and over a lake. Iconic Star Wars music and sound effects help round out the package, with the end product being one seriously cool four-minute video.

You can check out the full video, as well as a look behind the scenes, below.

In other Star Wars news, a recent video appears to have (possibly) revealed the name of Star Wars Episode VIII. It's impossible to know if the name is legitimate or not, but you can read more about that here. It's just the latest leak regarding the upcoming film, with an earlier report detailing one of the film's climactic lightsaber battles. If, however, you're looking for a spoiler-free lightsaber battle (or are simply a Game of Thrones fan), you'll want to check out this Star Wars version of the show's epic Tower of Joy fight. It's a great time to be a Star Wars fan.
