Netflix has unveiled the release date for the new season of its popular hit comedy Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt along with a first look clip of some scenes from the new series.

In the video, Tituss Burgess' character assumes the Beyoncé role in a Lemonade inspired scene as he sings his take on the song "Hold Up" while smashing his lover Mikey's car window with a baseball bat.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 Release Date Revealed By Netflix

Kimmy Schmidt lovers can rejoice, because the new season's premiere date has been officially announced by Netflix. May 19 is the release date for season three of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and it's not a moment too soon, as this year's debut comes a bit later than usual due to star Ellie Kemper's pregnancy, which delayed the start of shooting last year, when season two debuted on April 15.

The show was originally slated to air on NBC, but after season one had already been commissioned and produced, the network passed on it and it was given new life on Netflix. That meant more scenes per episode for fans of the series because starting with season two, the length was increased.

"NBC is 21 minutes and 15 seconds after you take out the commercials," explained creator Tina Fey. "On Netflix, they really want you to make the episodes as long as possible for the amount of time you have."

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Teaser Video Featuring Tituss Burgess Released By Netflix

As is the usual case with Netflix original series, all 13 episodes of season three will be released at once on its May 19 release date. To get fans in the mood, Netflix has just released a teaser which features Kemper's breakout costar Tituss Burgess in what appears to be his own personal version of Beyoncé's Lemonade video album.

In the clip, Burgess dons a ruffled lemon yellow dress similar to Beyoncé's, and sings new lyrics to the diva's "Hold Up" track as he takes a baseball bat to his partner Mikey's vehicle window, singing:

"Hello, I ain't playing with you, Michael / I'm not fooling with you, Michael / Pack up, I ain't playing with you, meatball / Michael, I'm not playing with you, meatball."

The clip focuses solely on Burgess, while Kemper's image is only shown briefly at the end, but we're sure as the premiere date approaches, more clips will reveal what Kimmy and the rest of the gang get up to in season three. Meanwhile you can watch the first teaser for the new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt below.
