The next project of Bluepoint Games, the studio behind Shadow of the Colossus for the PlayStation 4, is a "bigger" remake.

Speculations on the game that Bluepoint will remake next are now running rampant. However, some people believe that they have already identified the next game that will be receiving the remake treatment from Bluepoint.

Bluepoint Succeeds With 'Shadow Of The Colossus' Remake

In E3 2017, Sony revealed that Shadow of the Colossus, the classic game from the PlayStation 2, will be receiving a remake for the PlayStation 4. While fans of the title were excited about the idea, there were concerns on how the outdated PlayStation 2 game will translate to modern gaming on the PlayStation 4.

The Shadow of the Colossus remake for the PlayStation 4 was released earlier this year, and it instantly silenced critics. The game breathed new life into the classic, proving that remakes are capable of both bringing back old players while attracting new ones.

The task of remaking Shadow of the Colossus was a gigantic one for Bluepoint, which needed to expand its art team to fulfill its obligations for the project. When EuroGamer's Digital Foundry asked whether the expanded art team will be deployed to work on an original game, the studio's response revealed its future plans.

"Well, we could but we're doing another remake," said Bluepoint President Marco Thrush. He explained that the Shadow of the Colossus remake served as "a great point" to grow the studio's art team. However, its next steps are to make further improvements so that it will be able to handle its next project, which will be "a bit bigger."

With Thrush's comments, he confirmed that Bluepoint is working on a remake that will be bigger in scope compared to Shadow of the Colossus, which may be hard to imagine given the titanic undertaking that the project required.

"We're really excited about our next project and we think you will be too when you find out what it is," Thrush further teased.

What Game Will Bluepoint Remake Next?

Bluepoint did not reveal any details on the next game that it will remake. There are no clues on what genre the title will be and for which console.

The studio, however, has developed a close relationship with Sony over the past several years, with Bluepoint behind Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Gravity Rush Remastered, the God of War Collection, and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. This makes it a good guess that the remake will again be for the PlayStation 4.

According to speculations, the game that Bluepoint will remake next is Demon's Souls, the first game in the Souls series that ended with Dark Souls III. One of the clues is that Sony shut down the game's servers shortly after its ninth anniversary without any explanation.

Demon's Souls will indeed fit the bill as a "bigger" remake compared to Shadow of the Colossus. Will Bluepoint or Sony make an official announcement at E3 2018?
