Sony has unveiled the PlayStation Plus free games for May 2018, headlined by Beyond: Two Souls and Rayman Legends for the PlayStation 4.

The free games will be available for download starting May 1, which gives PlayStation Plus subscribers a few more days to download the free games for April 2018.

PlayStation Plus Free Games For May 2018

The free games that PlayStation Plus subscribers can download for May 2018 were unveiled through an official PlayStation blog post. Starting off the line-up were Beyond: Two Souls and Rayman Legends for the PlayStation 4.

Beyond: Two Souls is an interactive adventure game developed by Quantic Dream, the same studio behind the highly anticipated Detroit: Become Human that will launch on May 25. It stars Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, and follows the supernatural journey of a girl named Jodie Holmes with branching paths and player choices. Beyond: Two Souls was originally released for the PlayStation 3 but later re-released for the PlayStation 4.

Rayman Legends, meanwhile, is a platformer that can be played solo or with a friend for some couch co-op action. The game features the franchise's signature crazy colors and sounds, with levels that may be both beautiful and challenging.

PlayStation 3 owners will be able to download Risen 3: Titan Lords and Eat Them! as their free games for May. Risen 3: Titan Lords is an action RPG that was besieged with technical issues when it was originally launched, while Eat Them! is a monster game that brings to mind the recently released Rampage in theaters.

PlayStation Vita owners, on the other hand, will be able to download King Oddball and Furmins for free. King Oddball, a cross-buy with the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, is a 2D puzzle game, while Furmins is a physics-based puzzler with over 100 levels.

PlayStation Plus Free Games: Are They Getting Better?

Beyond: Two Souls and Rayman Legends may not be top AAA titles, but they are certainly not awful games for the PlayStation 4. However, some players may be disappointed with next month's free games, as well as with this month's free games of Mad Max and Trackmania Turbo, because of what PlayStation Plus offered in March.

In March, PlayStation Plus offered the notoriously difficult and massively popular Bloodborne as a free game for the PlayStation 4. It remains to be seen how and when Sony will match up to the hype generated by Bloodborne as a free PlayStation Plus download.
