After a week of rumors and speculation, Cody will officially join the cast of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Season 3 starting June 26.

Giving What Fans Want Plus A Little Extra

Despite the problematic launch of the original software, constant updates and new content have made gameplay fresh. This year marks the third season of the fighting game and it comes with six new characters and their respective cosmetic options.

It is clear to see how Capcom aimed to please its fans when it reintroduced several fighters from older installments. Unlike the second season wherein five of the six new fighters were all brand-new, the third one brings back familiar faces such as Sakura, Blanka, Sagat, and the new mayor of Metro city himself.

His official reveal took place right after the awarding ceremony for Combo Breaker 2018, a fighting game tournament that is officially part of the Capcom Pro Tour 2018.

A short live-action introduction includes another surprise in the form of Kenny Omega, a famous professional wrestler and self-confessed fan of the franchise. In his Twitter post, he appreciates the publisher for allowing him to play as one of his favorite characters in the series.

A New Mayor In Town

The official story regarding Cody has yet to be revealed when he officially launches for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition next month. Yet, the trailer shows that he is now the acting mayor of Metro City. For now, no one knows what happened to Haggar, the former mayor, but some rumors claim that the latter could have already retired.

Just like the previous character releases, Cody comes with different skins available for purchase. His default outfit is a formal pinstripe suit with his hair slicked back.

Meanwhile, his other options include a Haggar throwback for the Story costume, a white tuxedo for the Battle costume, a prison outfit for his Nostalgia costume, and the original Final Fight outfit.

Keeping Things Familiar And Fresh

A breakdown of everything about Cody in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is available on the Capcom Unity website. It looks like the developers want to keep some of his older moves such as the Zonk Knuckle and Ruffian Kick.

Moreover, Criminal Upper and his rock throw are no longer available. In its place, however, is a new projectile attack called the Tornado Sweep and a few target combos.

V-Skill, V-Trigger I, V-Trigger II, And Critical Art

Fans of the original Final Fight games will instantly recognize his V-Skill. The Double Kick move sees Cody jump up and throw two kicks mid-air on both sides. It can be used as his main anti-air attack or as a combo ender in some cases.

His first V-Trigger is known as Sidearm where the Metro City mayor brandishes his signature knife. Once active, his normal attack range increases and has more advantage when blocked.

Players can also throw the knife as a projectile.

His second V-Trigger is called Dirty Coach and upon activation, it arms Cody with a metal pipe. While active, he can use Bean Ball, which tosses a rock in front of him and can be used as a projectile in combination with the pipe.

Additionally, the pipe grants him two new moves called the Gentle Swing and Gentle Upper Swing.

Finally, the Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition newcomer's Critical Art is the Criminal Punisher. It looks similar to his Criminal Upper attack from previous titles but is larger and hits harder.

Cody will be available for an individual character purchase but is included along with the other fighters in the game's latest Season Pass.
