The Square Enix showcase for E3 2018 was hyped up, but it turned out to be a disappointment for gamers who were looking forward to titles such as the Final Fantasy VII Remake and the unnamed The Avengers project.

There were still some new Square Enix games announced in the press conference, but the developer and publisher failed in giving gamers the information that they wanted.

Square Enix E3 2018 Showcase: What Was Included?

The Square Enix showcase for E3 2018 was hyped up, with the promise that the company's "next chapter is about to begin." However, it turned out to be a letdown.

Square Enix devoted about seven minutes of the 30-minute press conference to Shadow of the Tomb Raider and also spent a lot of time on the tornadoes of Just Cause 4. Also included in the video were highly anticipated Kingdom Hearts III and The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. Unfortunately, all four titles were already part of Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference.

There were two new Square Enix games announced in the E3 2018 showcase. The first was The Quiet Man, which came with a bizarre trailer of what looked like a deaf man beating other people up. The second was Babylon's Fall, which likewise did not reveal much in its trailer.

Other things in the trailer include Nier: Automata: Become as Gods, Dragon Quest XI, Octopath Traveler, Under the Moonlight, and the Final Fantasy XIV crossover with Monster Hunter: World.

Square Enix E3 2018 Showcase: What Was Missing?

E3 2018 marked the return of Square Enix, as the company last held a press conference at the annual event in 2015. However, after the end of the showcase, gamers wondered if that was really it.

Square Enix did not mention anything about the Final Fantasy VII Remake, despite fans clamoring for updates on the ambitious project. There was also nothing about the unnamed The Avengers game, despite E3 2018 being the perfect opportunity to share details after the hype surrounding The Avengers: Infinity War.

Gamers looking forward to these games took to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Square Enix was not expected to announce major surprises, like new entries in the Chrono Trigger or Star Ocean franchises. Not including even a glimpse of the Final Fantasy VII Remake and the unnamed The Avengers game in its E3 2018 presentation, however, is just a baffling move for the company.
