A top official of Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed that around 3 million units of PlayStation VR systems have been sold worldwide.

On top of that, Mary Yee, vice president of Sony's PlayStation Marketing, said that around 21.9 million virtual reality games and experiences have been sold as well around the world.

"We'd like to thank all our fans for the amazing support, and we're thrilled that so many of our gamers have experienced the magic of VR and stepped into the captivating worlds that electrify our senses," Yee said in her blog posted on the company's official website.

The PlayStation official also thanked developers and publishers across North America for creating some of the most engaging titles to the platform that have attracted VR enthusiasts. As of now, Yee said Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR is the top-played game on the platform across diverse genres, from action-RPG to horror to first-person shooter.

Also included in the top 10 of most-played VR games in the platform are PlayStation VR Worlds, Rec Room, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, The Playroom VR, Job Simulator, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, Batman: Arkham VR, Farpoint, and Superhot VR.

Sony Interactive To Launch Two VR Games This Fall

In celebration of this achievement, Yee said Sony will launch two highly anticipated PS VR games in the fall, with the help of its partners.

First to be launched is Creed: Rise to Glory, which will hit PS VR on Sept. 25. Sony said preorder for the game developed by Survios has already started.

Based on the game's description, Creed: Rise to Glory features the journey of Adonis Creed from being an underground amateur fighter to a boxing champion. The game is expected to challenge the body and mind as Creed fights through the ranks en route to becoming a boxing champion. Players will have a chance to train with the legendary Rocky Balboa.

Sony said the player will feel every punch, uppercut, and flurry through situational desynchronization, including fatigue, staggering, and knockouts through the Phantom Melee Technology.

'Evasion' To Be Launched On Oct. 9

PlayStation also said that Evasion, the sci-fi first-version VR shooter designed by Archiact, will hit the market on Oct. 9, while preorder has already started. Evasion features four unique hero classes responsible for saving an embattled human colony.

Players could play solo or can join forces to rescue humans from swarms of invading Optera. PlayStation said Evasion gives VR fans an authentic FPS experience they have been searching for.
